Ice Experiment
Today we did an experiment with ice, dye, and salt. Mrs Drummond froze water balloons and made ice balls to use in the experiment. We put a couple of ice balls in a bowl and dropped some food dye onto the ice. Then we put some salt onto the ice and watched it. It started to make little bumps when we added the salt. We learnt what happens when you add salt to ice. When you add salt to ice, it makes bumps. This is what it looked like:

Descriptive Writing
This week in Room five, we have been focusing on descriptive writing. We went on to the literacy shed website and picked a picture to describe. Here is my descriptive writing:
This morning I looked out of my bedroom window to see a beautiful golden sunrise, a sunny blue sky, and a fresh soft layer of white snow. The thick fog makes the field seem even more mystic.
I could hear the bluebirds softly tweet in the bare trees.
When I take each step gently strolling out the front door, I feel the snow crunch softly under my boots. I look back and see my footprints in the snow.
I tilt my head upward and try to spot animals in the fluffy clouds.
My hands feel warm inside my light blue woollen mittens.
I enjoy feeling the cool winter breeze blowing against my body.

Water Filters
This Week in Room Five for science, we have been focusing on water. We have done a lot of activities around the water cycle. Today We did an experiment with water filters. The goal of the experiment was to pour dirty water into a cup and get the cleanest water you can by filtering it. There was a selection of sand, bark, paper towels and cotton balls. Emelia and I chose to use cotton balls and paper towels. Here is what it looked like:

Jamaica
This week in room five, we have been researching different countries of our choice. I chose Jamaica because I didn't know much information about it. We all got a plain worksheet to fill out and decorate. On the sheet, we had to write down some important events, the things they celebrate, what sports they play, what they wear and more! This is my worksheet:
